Dr. Will Gutekunst is an Assistant Professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a courtesy appointment in Materials Science and Engineering, and has expertise in polymer synthesis and organic chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry under Professor Phil S. Baran at The Scripps Research Institute in 2013, followed by an NIH postdoctoral fellowship with Professor Craig J. Hawker at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research interests intersect the worlds of modern synthetic organic chemistry and polymer science to develop the tools needed to build next generation functional polymers. Currently, the group’s research efforts focus on the development of new small molecules to dynamically control architecture in hyperbranched polymeric systems and the design of novel platforms for polyamide engineering.
