Dr. Mark D. Losego

Dr. Mark D. Losego is an assistant professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology with expertise is vapor phase processing of materials, including organic-inorganic hybrid materials.  The Losego Lab seeks to create entirely new classes of hybrid materials using innovative gas-phase processing tools that are scalable to commodity product manufacturing.  Approaches include modification of surface chemistry and bulk infiltration of polymeric materials with inorganic constituents to impart new properties ranging from improved chemical stability to enhanced catalytic reactivity.  Prof. Losego received his B.S. from Penn State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. from North Carolina State University.  Prior to starting at Georgia Tech in 2014, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois and research faculty at NC State where he made seminal contributions to nanoscale heat transport and molecular photocatalysis for solar fuels respectively.
